My work for Rita Di Cesare was published in Mini Graphics recently. I’ll take the credit for the custom word mark, and the rest is a collabo between Rita and I. I’m not really sure where you can purchase the book, but their general distributor is Promo Press from Spain. I almost forgot that I design things too.

Wednesday, March 24th, 2010Often times, after a long day of work, I wonder why I still do so much work by hand (about 70%). Just yesterday I sat for the entire day drawing the same things over and over again. Then I saw this, and remembered why. There’s a constant sense of urgency dealing with the digital world. Everything is expected to be done pronto and people seem to be lacking patience more and more (I’m not in anyway exempt). Our hands can do much more than just type and move a mouse around all day and it’s depressing to think that a majority of us in this profession are doing only just that on the daily. Anyway. Maybe I’m just getting old.
The connection.
Thursday, March 4th, 2010So while doing what I do best, which is enduring the process of procrastination by the way of surfing the interwebs. I came across one of my favourite images by Barbara Kruger and made a connection that I should have probably made before.

While Kruger used Futura bold italic in her work and Supreme adopted to Century Gothic bold italic, the connection is still there. I’m not at all saying Supreme ripped off the works of Kruger, I just found it a tad ironic that one of the super brands of street wear today reminded me so much of her work, which called on the criticism of hyper-consumerism in the 80s. But also to think that things probably hasn’t changed, if it had, it was probably for the worst.

Bit and pieces 02
