The History of Bottled Water

Tuesday, March 23rd, 2010

People in the US buy more than half of a BILLION bottles of water every week. That’s just the US. Ouch.

July 19th 2004

Monday, March 22nd, 2010

I found a stack of things I wrote way back when. This is from July 19th, 2004.

—————–

He, approaches her from behind, brushes his nose against the back of her neck, just enough for her to feel his presence. He knows how she likes that.

She, senses him from behind her, anticipates for the moment of touch. There is no other sound, only the sound of her breath. Her mouth is open slightly to let out a breah of air, to ease the feeling of butterflies in her stomach as she feels his skin against hers.

The sound of her breath and the raffles of the sheets.

Her hair is still damp from the shower, with strands fused to her skin. He loves the smell of her hair, the freshness; he can almost tastes it. He wants to hold on to her, tightly, but as soon as he reaches to put his arms around her she giggles, pulls away, and disappears into the mountain of sheets. He looks for her under the covers, but all he can see is a diffused warm glow of the morning sun.

She remains hidden from him, but only a arms reach away.
Her mouth slightly moves to what vaguely looks like a smile.

Thought of the day.

Mini Ride

Tuesday, March 9th, 2010

It’s (almost) riding season again!

Mini ride to Treptower Park which is the Soviet War Memorial commemorate the 5,000 fallen soldiers in the Battle of Berlin. Europe is full of history in general but Berlin has been through more than most other cities nearby… I still have a lot to learn, and see within the city limits so it seems.

The snow/ice mounds are pretty much gone by now. The coldness is still lingering though…

Riding buddy.

And I think he would know better than most…

The connection.

Thursday, March 4th, 2010

So while doing what I do best, which is enduring the process of procrastination by the way of surfing the interwebs. I came across one of my favourite images by Barbara Kruger and made a connection that I should have probably made before.

Enter, Supreme.

While Kruger used Futura bold italic in her work and Supreme adopted to Century Gothic bold italic, the connection is still there. I’m not at all saying Supreme ripped off the works of Kruger, I just found it a tad ironic that one of the super brands of street wear today reminded me so much of her work, which called on the criticism of hyper-consumerism in the 80s. But also to think that things probably hasn’t changed, if it had, it was probably for the worst.

Just food for thought.
