Artism for Austism

September 28th, 2008

A few weeks ago I received a nice little email from Ryan Killeem asking me to submit a piece for Artism.

Artism is an independent organisation working towards raising money for the National Autistic Society charity through the use of Art.
We will gladly accept donations from artists of any kind to sell/auction off for the charity .
All proceeds go to The National Autistic Society.”

In high school, I had a friend named David who is autistic. He was one of the most memorable characters I knew. We were in the same Math AP class together in grade 12, and we became friends when I came back from my exchange to Japan. At the time he knew Pi to the 200th digit and would stay in the math classroom during lunch time and preform algorithms based on the golden ratio and the Fibonacci sequence. Unfortunately some kids from my high school were less than accepting and give him a tough time the three years we were there. Unfortunately we fell out of touch after high school as I moved away for school and jobs… I hope he’s doing wonderful.

Anyway, for more information about this project, please visit the site(click on the image below)!

From the past.

Yesterday I was inspired to go through all of my old sketchbooks and scan in sketches/drawings I’ve made. During which I came across a flip book I made for a 2nd year design class(design for motion, many moons ago). I’ve always really liked what I produced for this project so I thought I’d put it together and make it into a mini movie, and apply some sound to it as well. Its been forever since I’ve worked in flash, and I was extremely rusty at it… But this reminded me why I loved motion and that I should do this more!

And here are some excerpts from the sketchbooks I went through.

Sahtel 7

September 2nd, 2008

I helped my friend Risto with an interview and photography for Sahtel 7.
The English version is available here.

I actually had no part in the design, they were by Risto of Sahtel. Words and a few photos were by me(the English version).
